Anne Loree's song "Insensitive" was a breakthrough hit for Jann Arden,
bringing her to the forefront of Canadian songwriting and earning her a
Juno nomination.
Since then Anne has released four CDs, (Beyond
Cinderella, RoAr, Mullet Years and Leaving Shadowland) performed several times at the EPCOR Engineered
Air Songwriter's series in Calgary, the 2004 Alberta Sessions, at the
Calgary and Winnipeg Folk Festivals and various workshops and songwriter
showcases sponsored by Socan across Canada.
Anne's 2nd CD, Roar, is a broad cross section of 15 beautiful songs
consisting of brave and insightful ballads and rockin' environmental and
politically edged commentaries. Songs from Roar, such as "Money at
Stake" and "Like a Hole in the Ozone" are still being played extensively
on CBC (Richardson's Roundup), CKUA in Alberta, American and Canadian
college radio and have charte d on special programming. Anne herself
was recently featured on Shelagh Rogers "Sounds Like Canada" on CBC AM
for a piece she did on the Alberta Drought. Anne interviewed farmers in
the northeast province and wrote a heartfelt song called "Diamonds on
the Wasteland."
Whether in small clubs across Canada, or at festivals and showcases,
Anne has a natural flare for connecting with her audience. Her live
performances are always warm, witty and fun. She does a wonderful solo
performance and often has talented musicians to back her up. Going back
and forth on piano and guitar she delivers a unique and evocative sound
through stylized vocals, smart arrangements and powerful lyrics. Anne
also delivers her haunting rendition of "Insensitive." Just the way she
wrote it.
Anne released her 3rd and 4th albums in November '05.
